HEALTH BENEFITS OF LADY’S FINGER
Lady’s finger is also known as Okra or gumbo. They call Okra for some part of Asian countries, lady’s finger or gumbo in some part of English-speaking countries and other names from another part of the world. This plant is also known for its seed pods. Its characteristic is resulting to slimy when the seed pods are cut or cooked.
This is a vegetable that gives nourishment to our body. It is useful and inexpensive medicine as it gives a lot of health benefits.
Two of my officemates mentioned that this vegetable help them and their loved ones in curing their ailments– arthritis on the legs. Here’s what they do in preparing it:
– 5 pieces of Lady’s Finger sliced into 2
– 1 1/2 cups of water
Boil the water in a casserole and add the lady’s finger, simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain the lady’s finger and set aside the boiled water. Cool down the boiled water for an hour then drink. You can drink twice a week or once a week, depending on the condition of your illness. For the boiled lady’s finger, you can add to your dishes, like with sliced tomatoes and belachan or add with your mi hoon goreng mix with chili sauce.

5. Boosts immune function
6. Good bowel movement
7. Anti-cancer – high in antioxidant
So far, there is no known side effect in consuming okra, still we have to take it moderately, as in everything we eat or drink to prevent the onset of adverse effects. Enjoy!
